Kathleen is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) which is a type of therapy used to help individuals who have experienced many types of trauma, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). A client might choose to undergo CPT to work through their trauma, reduce their symptoms, improve their mental health and well being, and move towards a more fulfilling life.
The CPT approach starts with an initial assessment session followed by 12 structured sessions with written assignments for one session per week. The goal is to improve your quality of life and learn effective coping skills. Many report they are now managing distressing emotions that trigger symptoms of intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety and avoidance behaviors. These goals support individual empowerment and improvement in your quality of life.
